Pool boss could be forced into making changes

Blackpool boss Gary Bowyer has reluctantly admitted he might be forced into making a number of changes for tomorrow's clash against Brackley Town.

The Seasiders suffered a double injury blow during last week’s 4-1 win against Newport County with Colin Daniel and Kelvin Mellor both being forced off the pitch.

While Mellor is in line for a swift return, Daniel is likely to be out for a few weeks. But Bowyer also revealed a couple of others suffered knocks during the comfortable league win.

He said: “Colin is definitely out as he’s pulled his hamstring, which is a blow because he’s been in fine form for us. So we’re disappointed from that point of view but it presents an opportunity for somebody else.

“Kelvin got stretchered off but we’re hoping he’ll be okay for Saturday, so fingers crossed on that one.

“We’ve suffered a little bit during the week with some other bumps and bruises from a tough week previous, with three games in a week.

“It’s just a case of recovering as well as we can and preparing for a tough game on Saturday.”

The Pool boss said it would be “disappointing” to make wholesale changes given his side’s recent performances and consistency.

“I’d rather not make lots of changes, but I might be forced into it which is disappointing,” he added. “I’ve quite enjoyed sticking to the same team and making the odd change here or there if needed and that’s shown in the consistency of our results and performances.

“I think making as few changes as possible on Saturday would be for the benefit of everyone.”
