Pool boss Bowyer remains a big fan of the FA Cup

National League North side Kidderminster Harriers provide the opposition at Bloomfield Road tomorrow afternoon as Bowyer’s men aim to win their first FA Cup game since 2012.

Bowyer enjoyed a cup run to the quarter-finals when his Blackburn Rovers side took Liverpool to a replay in 2015, and he is now looking to replicate that success with the Seasiders.

“It’s still got that magic for me,” he said. “Ever since watching the FA Cup as a kid I’ve always thought it’s a special competition.

“Some people don’t have that opinion but I think it’s a special occasion.”

Blackpool come into the game on the back of a 2-2 draw at Cheltenham Town last weekend, when they were denied all three points by a superb display by Robins goalkeeper Russell Griffiths.

However their last game at Bloomfield Road produced an impressive 4-2 win against a Doncaster Rovers side who were second in the league at the time.

While Bowyer admitted tomorrow’s FA Cup game and Tuesday night’s EFL Trophy game against Everton may provide him with an opportunity to rest one or two, he insists he won’t be making wholesale changes.

“We’ve developed some good momentum with our performances and we want to maintain that,” he added.

“With the cup games coming up it’s a bit of a juggling act for us this moment in time. I can’t see us making 11 changes so it’s a case of being selective and not just having an eye on one game, but three.”

Kidderminster head to Bloomfield Road in good form, as they currently sit in third position in the National League North.

They have already won three qualifying games to reach this stage with wins over Tamworth, Lancaster City and Weymouth – and Bowyer is expecting a tough test.

“They are a very good team,” he added. “I went to watch them against Harrogate and I was impressed.

“They are well coached and I like their manager (John Eustace), who I think will become a very good manager in the league at some point.”
