Blackpool paid the price for missed chances, says Terry McPhillips

Stanley earned their point courtesy of Mark Hughes' injury time header after Nathan Delfouneso had earlier put the Seasiders in front.

Coleman felt both sides had more than enough opportunities to score more than just the one, but on reflection agreed that a draw was a fair result.

“I think we possibly just shaded the first half but second half they were a lot better," he told BBC Radio Lancashire.

“But I think the game boils down to both teams having an excellent 15-minute spell and scored at the end of it.

“They’ve missed a couple of really good chances but they finally get one over the line from the corner.

“We’re disappointed we give the ball away ourselves in our own half with the free kick. That would have relieved the pressure that was mounting.

“But we’ve spoken to the players at the end of the game and we’ve said we shouldn’t really need the opposition to score to spark us into life - and that was the case.

“As soon as they scored we grasped the metal and we were the better side after that.

“We miss a couple of really good chances, should have had a penalty and then we pop up with a good header at the back post.

“I can be critical of our players because they know how high the standards I set, but the one thing I can never criticise them for is their appetite or their heart. Every week they show amazing character, whether they win, lose or draw.

“I don’t think anyone can begrudge us the point on the balance of the game. It just seemed strange that they had a good spell and then stopped, which then allowed us to have a good spell.”
