OPPOSITION VIEW: Warne proud of Blackpool win

Will Vaulks' second-half effort was enough to separate the two sides at the New York Stadium, but the Millers were heavily reliant on their goalkeeper Marek Rodak.

The on-loan Fulham man made two or three impressive stops to deny Blackpool what would have been a fully-merited point.

Warne, whose Rotherham side will now face Scunthorpe United over two legs, was delighted with the result.

“We just wanted to finish the season well," he told BBC Radio Sheffield.

“This game had a bit of pressure on it because we knew about the goal swing. I’d much rather play the second leg at home.

“But I said to the players more often than not, the team that goes into the play-offs on form wins them. So if we could win this one that would put us joint top on form with Scunthorpe in terms of the sides going for the play-offs.

“But it was a really hot day and sometimes our strengths are also our weaknesses. We’re a high energy team but in this heat it took a lot out of us.

“Blackpool are also a very good team in good knick, with four wins and a draw from their last five.

“We knew it was going to be a tough game but I’m just really proud of the lads.

“We kept a clean sheet and I thought Marek was outstanding, making a couple of saves to get us out of trouble.

“So generally it’s a good end to a really good season and I’m pretty proud.”
