Blackpool made a winning start to the season with a well-organised, high energy performance against Exeter City.

A goal by Kyle Vassell after 20 minutes was the difference between the two sides at half-time
He was put in the clear with a telling through-pass and though the Exeter goalkeeper Bobby Olejnik got part of his body in the way of the shot, it looped over him and into the visitors’ net.
Blackpool had other first half chances, but Exeter too were well in it in this entertaining encounter.
Ollie Watkins had Exeter’s best chance of the half, heading on to the woodwork from close range.
The Seasiders had a setback when they lost Danny Philliskirk to an ankle injury after only 10 minutes - he was replaced by substitute Colin Daniel.
Blackpool made it 2-0 seven minutes into the second half when Troy Brown deflected a Brad Potts effort into his own net, leaving manager Gary Bowyer well satisfied that there was more to come.

The attendance was 3,754.
