He was part of the last Wigan Athletic promotion party, having been on loan from Everton when they clinched promotion from League One at Blackpool in April 2016.

Paul Cook's men could clinch a return to the Championship with victory but McAleny wants to put those celebrations on ice.

He said: "We don't want to be roll over and let them win the game; our aim is to beat them.

"They are going to bring out the best in us so hopefully we can put a spanner in the works.

"Wigan are going to come at us, we need to be ready."

The match also reunites McAleny with former team-mate Devante Cole.

He joined the Latics in the January transfer window but is yet to start for Cook's men.

"It will be good to see him - if he is playing!" McAleny joked.

"Let's see what happens; I'm not their manager so I don't know if he is going to be playing.

"He's gone to a top League One side with an established team; it is a good move and fair play to him."

Off the pitch it has been a busy week for Town with news of Joey Barton's appointment as manager for next season.

Out of respect to Town's present boss, John Sheridan, McAleny refused to comment too much on the incoming manager.

He said: "It has not affected the dressing room.

"Everyone is just concentrating on the last three games of this season.

"It is next season and we will concentrate on that when June come; to be honest we have not really thought about it too much.

"We have still got three games to go; we can't get relegated or promoted but we are still concentrating on this season.

"Once this season is done I'm sure there will be a lot of talk about it.

"That is next season; right now it is this season with the gaffer (Sheridan) here."
