Man tricked into being Blackpool mascot on his stag do

A man got quite the surprise on his stag do when his friends signed him up as one of Blackpool's match day mascots for their game against Bradford City.

Kevin Stuart had travelled down to Blackpool from Scotland for what was supposed to be a traditional weekend of stag do festivities.

But it turned out the school teacher from Elgin, who is due to get married in August, had been stitched up by the 15 friends that joined him.

While the rest of the players were accompanied by youngsters as they walked out for kick-off, the 34-year-old walked out alongside Pool midfielder Jay Spearing - who clearly saw the funny side.

He wrote on Instagram: "When your mascot turns out a little different to what you expect! Stitched up on his stag do!"

The pictures of 6'2 Kevin, who stood some inches taller than Spearing, have been shared widely since being posted to Twitter by Bradford City's official photographer Thomas Gadd.

“He looked proper nervous,” Thomas told the Press Association.

“Jay Spearing was laughing and apparently Bradford fans were chanting ‘your mascot is s***’.”

Kevin, who walked out onto the Bloomfield Road pitch in his best brogues, turned out to be a lucky mascot as the Seasiders went on to thrash Bradford 5-0.
