AFC Blackpool 1 Glossop NE 3
A youthful side were always playing catch-up after Andrew Sensale’s second-minute opener for Glossop and Paul Carroll’s red card for stamping compounded their problems.
Despite their early setback, a Blackpool side featuring only two players over 25 battled back well and were denied an equaliser before the break when Martin Baird’s shot rebounded off the bar.
However, Parker’s side were left with a mountain to climb two minutes after the restart, when an own goal followed a mix-up between Grant Dell and new keeper Craig Unsworth. The teenaged former AFC Fylde keeper recovered well in an encouraging debut.
Despite the dismissal of Carroll, who argued he could not prevent himself standing on an opponent as the ball ran out of play, Blackpool battled on and gave themselves a lifeline with a 21st goal of the season by the outstanding Marc Beattie with five minutes left.
However, a failed clearance by Ryan Vaughan was pounced upon by Sam Hind and he wrapped up the points for the visitors.
Parker said: “We need to avoid frustration, knuckle down and try to grind out some results. Everyone is trying hard but the lack of experience shows.” AFC Liverpool visit Common Edge tomorrow.
