MAGNO Vieira is having a ball again ... a match ball that is.
Fleetwood Town’s Brazilian top scorer brought the ball home as a souvenir after netting his first hat-trick for the Highbury club in Tuesday’s outstanding 5-2 win at Mansfield.
It was a case of sweet 16 for the 25-year-old, whose 16-minute treble took his tally for the season to 16.
Vieira was delighted to be back among the goals and to help Town bounce back in style from Saturday’s defeat at Forest Green.
He had scored on his return from injury against Newport County before Christmas, but then went three games without a goal until the Field Mill match.
Vieira said: “I was so glad to score because the boys played really well and totally deserved to win.
“We have been creating chances but not scoring and so it was good to take them. We started the second half well, which we haven’t done lately.”
Vieira took pride in his “complete” hat-trick – a header and shots with left foot and right – adding: “When you have been out for a while it is hard to get sharp and strong when you come back.
“But the main thing was to get the three points, which were massive because Mansfield will be pushing for the play-offs too.”
