FLEETWOOD Town could be crowned Conference champions and promoted to the Football League on Tuesday night.

Title rivals Wrexham’s 1-0 home defeat by Alfreton last night means Town would secure the Blue Square Bet Premier crown with victories at York City today and at home to the Welshmen in front of a packed Highbury on Tuesday.

If Town drop points against the play-off-chasing Minstermen today, however, the earliest the title race can be settled will be next Friday, when Lincoln visit Fleetwood.

Anthony Wilson scored the only goal for Alfreton with a bullet header from Josh Law’s corner on the stroke of half-time.

The Dragons improved after the break but Jamie Tolley’s effort was their only real goal-scoring chance.

Andy Morrell’s Wrexham had done a fine job of matching Town stride for stride at the top but have taken only four points from their last four games.

The club shop at Highbury will be open today and on Easter Monday, when the few remaining tickets for the Wrexham and Lincoln games will be on sale.
