They were already confirmed as champions before kick-off due to having a vastly superior goal difference to Hurst Green and CMB, who had completed their fixtures and also totalled 68 points.

But Poulton extended the gap to three points with a superb home display.

Richard Tomlinson got them off to the perfect start when he netted just two minutes in. Their lead was doubled seven minutes later via an own goal. It was all over by half-time as goals by Alan Thompson, Jack Flackett made it 4-0 to the hosts.

It meant Poulton could enjoy the second half and look forward to their post-match celebrations as Nick Webster and Josh Few all added further goals. The champions still have a game to play against Lostock St Gerard’s, who would regain fifth place with a victory.
