AFC Fylde have signed Craig Mahon on loan from Chester City and the player was posied to make his debut on Saturday afternoon in the home clash with Buxton in the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League.

Mahon, 24, is joining the league leaders initially on loan, but the club will assess the situation after that.

AFC Fylde manager Dave Challinor said: “Craig comes straight into the squad - he is an attacking player who can operate anywhere across the front.

“Craig is a player I have watched for a while.

“I saw him a lot when he played for Vauxhall Motors, which is just around the corner from where I live.

“I am sure the fact that he is coming in will give us fresh attacking impetus.”

Born in Dublin, Mahon had spells at Wigan Athletic and Accrington Stanley - he made 133 appearances for Vauxhall Motors, being named player of the year in 2012-13 prior to a move to Chester in May.

Ryan Charnley is out for AFC Fylde with a thigh injury.
