Fylde coast amateur football: Cup finalists known for Alliance's Highbury humdinger and Garstang hold top spot in West Lancs

The Station Lytham caused an upset in the semi-finals of the Berry’s Beds First Division Cup in the Blackpool and Fylde Sunday Alliance.

In a cracking tight contest against Highfield Social at Common Edge Road, it was Social who took the lead just before half-time with a looping header from Stephen Hughes.

However, Station equalised through Keith Hulme and won the game 2-1 when the unlucky David Morris turned the ball into his own net.

In the last four of the division two competition, Clifton Rangers edged out Marshall Court 4-2 thanks to goals from Steve McEwan, Rob Hanslip, Thomas Hanslip and Gavin Martin.

This means all the contestants are now known for the three divisional cup finals at Fleetwood Town’s Highbury Stadium on May 13.

The action will begin at 10.30am with the division two showdown between Clifton Rangers and Westview. The division one final between E&P Publications and Station Lytham will kick-off at 1pm , with the premier division decider between Blackhurst Budd and AFC Additions ending proceedings at 4pm.

In the weekend’s league action, a hat-trick by Ric Seear setBlackhurst Budd on their way to a 4-1 win over Exceptional Kitchens in the premier division.

Brett Dawson was also on the scoresheet and Ben Newman replied.

Barry Davenport, Craig Harding and Craig Robinson scored for Bloomfield Brewhouse as they climbed to fourth by beating Appletree Finance 3-1, with Jake White replying, and second-placed Broomheads Estate Agency drew 3-3 with the Saddle, for whom Jarred Bain grabbed a hat-trick. His goals were cancelled out by Kenny Cram, Christopher Daws and Corey Harrison.

The only game in division two saw fourth-placed King Edward overwhelm bottom club Wrea Green 7-1 thanks to goals from Ryan Willetts (2), Steve Peters, Kieran Newcombe, Ryan Holland, Jordan Radcliff and Anthony Power. Kevin Wright replied.

Garstang remain top of West Lancashire League after yesterday’s programme was almost entirely washed out.

Garstang replaced Blackpool Wren Rovers at the summit of the premier division after Alan Coar scored four in Saturday’s 6-0 home hammering of Longridge Town.

Coar scored the only goal of the first half before his team ran riot in the second. Tom Entwistle made it 2-0 and Ryan Dodd completed the scoring in stoppage time.

The result leaves Garstang two points above Wrens with a match in hand. Both teams are in action tomorrow.

Thornton Cleveleys beat fourth-placed Fulwood A 3-1 after Oliver Wilkinson broke the deadlock on the stroke of half-time. Wilkinson added a second from the penalty spot, and although Fulwood pulled one back , Luke Noble sealed it 10 minutes from time.

Poulton missed a chance to return to the top of division one as they suffered only their second defeat all season, 3-0 at CMB. Poulton trailed 2-0 at half-time, conceding a third from the penaty spot.

Poulton remain two points behind Hurst Green, who also lost, but have three games in hand.

Lytham Town enjoyed a 3-0 home win over Mill Hill St Peter’s, Ross Ainsworth scoring two and Steven Seear the other, while Wyre Villa went down 4-
