BLACKPOOL FC full-back Ash Eastham has extended his loan at Fleetwood Town after a hearty pat on the back from manager Micky Mellon, writes ANDY MOORE.

The 21-year-old full-back did not have the happiest of League debuts for Town in last week’s 5-2 defeat by Port Vale but boss Mellon has nothing but praise for his attitude and was delighted to keep Eastham at Highbury for a second month.

Mellon told The Gazette: “We will keep communicating with Blackpool but I’m really happy to have Ash here.

“He is such a hard-working lad and he treats every training session as though it will be his last.

“Of course he still has a lot of work to do, but it’s great to have that sort of attitude and appetite around the place.

Tom Barkhuizen (also on loan from Blackpool) and Alex Marrow are the same, and we’ll try to move them all forward as players.

- TOWN centre-half Rob Atkinson has joined Accrington Stanley on a month’s loan and helped them to pull level with Fleetwood in the League Two play-off zone by playing the full 90 minutes in the 1-0 home win over Aldershot.
