Chorley 3, AFC Fylde 1

The Coasters fell to a fifth consecutive defeat at the hands of title-chasing Chorley on New Years’ Day thanks to a brace from Josh Hine and a superbly taken goal by former Fylde front man James Dean.

Sean Cooke scored his first goal for Fylde since his return to level the tie at 1-1 after Chorley’s Trevor Hine had netted his first after just 11 minutes, but a minute of madness in first half stoppage time took the game away from Fylde.

But Dean grabbed the headlines curling a shot from just outside the box over Ben Hinchliffe into the top corner and less than 60 seconds later it was 3-1 after Hine lobbed Hinchliffe for his second.
