Holt: Highbury must be a fortress again

Holt is on a season-long loan from Ibrox and has started the last four league games, in which Town are unbeaten.

The 25-year-old midfielder says communication lines are open north of the border, though he is focused on success at Fleetwood.

Holt said: “I spoke to a few of the guys back at Rangers but obviously my priority at the moment is Fleetwood and I will do the best I can here.

“I missed the first game (which Town lost at home to AFC Wimbledon) through suspension but managed to get back in the team.

“I’m looking for the positive results to continue on and I have really enjoyed being involved every week.”

After helping Fleetwood to take four points from their two games away to last term’s play-off contenders Scunthorpe and Charlton, Holt is now looking forward to tomorrow’s home clash with the Bradford club that knocked Town out of the previous season’s play-offs.

Rested for Tuesday’s League Cup defeat at Leicester, Holt said: “I think the league is really tough. I think whoever you play is difficult.

“I have played in this league before (on loan at Sheffield United in 2015) and I know from experience there are no easy games.

“Every week you need to be on your A game and there is a high level of performance needed to take points from these games.”
