Jay Spearing pledges future to Blackpool with new deal
The 29-year-old, who made 35 appearances for the Seasiders last season after signing a short-term deal in October, has penned a new two-year deal.
Many had expected Spearing to move on with his contract due to expire at the end of this month, especially with the tough-tackling midfielder appearing to say his goodbyes following the end of Pool’s last game of the season at Rotherham United.

Spearing said: "I’m delighted to sign for an extra two years.
"We were talking all over the summer and with my wedding coming up and a busy time sorting that, the gaffer was very kind to let me get married first and then come down and discuss things.
“The main thing I wanted to do this season is to get back in straight away, as soon as the lads came in, and get a full pre-season under my belt and kick-on from there.”
