Hundreds of Blackpool fans attend protest

An estimated 250 Blackpool supporters took part in a protest outside Bloomfield Road this afternoon (Sunday) against the club's owners.

Protesters held aloft a number of banners and flags while "we want Oyston out" chants were repeated by those in attendance.

Eggs and mushrooms were also hurled at the stadium's main entrance as the protesters gathered outside the West Stand.

The protest was held prior to Blackpool's 2-0 FA Cup win against Kidderminster Harriers, which was played in front of a sparse crowd. The official attendance was given as 1,963 with 904 visiting supporters, although this figure has been disputed.

MATCH REPORT: Blackpool 2-0 KidderminsterAmong the protesters was local businessman Jeremy Smith, who was congratulated by the Blackpool fans for winning his court case against the Oystons earlier this week.

The Blackpool supporters were also joined by many of their Kidderminster counterparts, who joined in with many of the chants.

The protest, organised by the Blackpool Supporters' Trust (BST), comes after an initiative to raise funds for Kidderminster Harriers in anticipation of the loss of gate receipts from today's low crowd.
