Happy days here again for Fleetwood boss Rosler

Town’s 2-0 victory at Scunthorpe United on Saturday extended their unbeaten record to 18 matches, took them above their hosts into second place and set a new club record points tally for the third tier.

Around 500 Town supporters made the trip to Glanford Park and were rewarded by goals in each half from Devante Cole and Bobby Grant.

Rosler said: “It was a game of second against third, but at the beginning of the season nobody would have taken notice of the game apart from the teams involved.

“We had the biggest crowd ever away from home but I think I perhaps kicked the ball too much. The players aren’t used to that because normally I’m a little more quiet.”

Rosler could have been forgiven for feeling he had a point to prove after taking the Town job days before the new season started.

He had spent nine months out of the game, having been among the managers sacked by Leeds United in their bid for a return to the Premier League.

Despite stepping down a division, Rosler is happy with the decision he took.

“After what happened at Leeds, I still find it very hard to take,” he said. “I did exactly what the chairman told me but I needed a club where I would find my happiness, working with players in a stable environment.

“I found that with Fleetwood from day one. It wasn’t a matter of money but it was about enjoying myself again. That’s why I’m here and we will see where it takes us.”
