The 26-year-old, who scored Town’s second in the 3-0 win over Northampton Town last weekend, says head coach Uwe Rosler has urged his midfielders to get into better attacking positions.

The striker tuned midfielder was Town’s top scorer last term but has now joined centre half Cian Bolger and full-back Conor McLaughlin on five.

It was a rare right-footed strike from Grant who, along with Kyle Dempsey and George Glendon, had worked at becoming more of a goalscoring threat.

“The manager has been on myself, Kyle and George to get in better attacking positions,” said Grant as they prepare to face former boss Graham Alexander and his Scunthorpe United side tomorrow.

“We were working on it on the Friday and it sums it up that I’ve managed to pop up and to be fair I’ve caught that really sweet and it was great when it went in.

“I think a lot of people think I don’t have a right foot. He has shown me onto my right foot there and I’ve caught it so sweet.

“I’ve had the centre-half and the two full-backs who have got more than me!

“But as long as the team are winning I will have a smile on my face.”
