Wyre and Fylde schools have been enjoying the state-of-the-art facilities at Fleetwood Town’s Poolfoot Farm training complex for their district football tournaments during the half-term.
AllStars was invited along for the Year 11 final between Garstang Community Academy and Baines High School.
It was the third year running that these schools had contested the final, Baines having won the previous two showpieces.
And they took an early lead in their bid for a hat-trick and added a second goal.
Garstang pulled one back but Baines had restored their two-goal cushion by half-time.
Garstang came back strongly in the second half but the score remained 3-1 until the final 10 minutes.
And five minutes after Garstang had reduced the deficit, they made it 3-3 with a shot in off the post.
That meant penalties, in which Garstang recovered from missing their first two to take the shoot-out into sudden death.
With the scores locked a 5-5, a Baines penalty cleared the bar and then Ben Keay held his nerve to score the winning spot-kick for Garstang at the end of a fantastic game played in just the right spirit.
