Fylde boss sets sights on tremendous treble

AFC Fylde boss Dave Challinor is targeting a hat-trick with a difference this month.

Last Saturday’s home game against Salford was postponed but the journey to Kellamergh Park wasn’t wasted for Challinor, who conducted a training session and collected a second successive manager of the month award for Evo-Stik First Division North.

Two months unbeaten have taken the Coasters to the top of the table, and their manager would love nothing more than to keep that record going for a third month.

Challinor said, on collecting his award from league secretary Angie Firth: “The award is a reward for everyone’s hard work, from the staff and players. They have taken everything on board and we have picked up a decent run of results.

“Off the pitch, our preparations are very good and training is improving all the time. If we want to be successful we have to keep the run going.”

n SQUIRES Gate FC intend to celebrate the 25th anniversary of their Richardson Cup triumph in style.

The non-league club lifted the trophy by beating Vickers 1-0 at Morecambe’s old Christie Park ground in April 1987.
