Fleetwood Town couldn’t make first half domination count as they kept up their miserable record at Kingsmeadow

Stewart Murdoch rattled the bar early on before Jamille Matt, David Ball and Jeff Hughes all failed to take advantage in a goal mouth scramble.

Maybe that was a sign luck wasn’t on Town’s side, a point re-inforced minutes later when The Dons were given a penalty for a handball nobody saw, skipper Mark Roberts apparently the culprit.

Harry Pell broke the deadlock from the spot.

And there was worse to come before the break, Scott Davies hesitating when George Francombe’s cross took a deflection, Michael Smith stooping at the back post to double The Dons advantage.

After the break Town struggled for posession, Wimbledon limiting their chances.

And Jack Midson, whose penalty against Fleetwood on the final day of last season against Fleetwood ensured The Dons League survival, nearly extended the home side’s lead, his diving header flying just wide.

The introduction of Jon Parkin, Matty Blair and Stephen Schumacher failed to inspire Town who slumped to their first away defeat of the campaign.
