Foxes midfielder Cain joins Pool on loan

He aims to help kick-start Blackpool’s revival after their headlong tumble into League Two, starting with this afternoon’s opening day clash at home to Exeter City.

Cain said: “I want to help the club get promoted, grab a few goals and kick my career on.”

Seasiders’ manager Gary Bowyer is delighted to get his man on board.

After clinching the deal, the Blackpool boss said: “He plays forward and he wants to create something.

“I just felt that we needed that in the squad and he has settled in very quickly.”

Cain, a member of the Leicester City development squad, has only just returned from playing in a tournament in France in which his side reached the final.

And now the player, who joined Leicester from Luton for a reported, six figure fee, is turning his hand to pressing matters at Bloomfield Road, and he is pleased to have a full season to bed in with the Seasiders.

He is keen to work under the manager and already knows Andy Taylor on the Blackpool staff, having played with him while on loan at Walsall.

Cain said: “It is a positive mood for me and I am going to enjoy the challenge.

“There are great facilities and everything tells me that the club is going in the right direction.

“Playing here for the season gives me time to know the rest of the lads - it’s bit of security and it is not up in the air what whether I am staying or going back, so I can really settle down.

“I try and get on the end of few things of in the box, disturb things at the other end and try and create and set things up.”

After joining Leicester from Luton, Cain was named the club’s academy player of the year award in 2012.

He made his debut for Leicester in August, 2014. and spent the bulk of that season playing on loan with League One side Walsall.

During his time with the Saddlers he was part of the squad that helped the Midlands club to the final of the then Johnstone’s Paint Trophy, but didn’t play at Wembley. He made 38 appearances, with three goals.
