Loan ace Tariqe Fosu is impressed with the welcome he’s been given at Fleetwood Town - making his first loan move away from parent club Reading.
London-born winger Fosu is with Town into January and is desperate to make his mark having impressed for the Royals’ development squad.
And he’s excited to have been given free rein by Fleetwood manager Steven Pressley to show off his skills as he looks to lift the Highbury club out of the relegation zone.
That mission starts with a trip to Peterborough United tomorrow.
Fosu, along with fellow loan signing, 19-year-old Belgian forward David Henen - who joined on a month-long stint from Premier League Everton- is likely to be in the squad to face Peterborough at London Road tomorrow.
It marks the end of a whirlwind week for the Reading academy product.
He said: “I played an under-21’s game against Brentford and Fleetwood were obviously there to watch me.
“I got a call, I think Tuesday and got told this is where I was going.
“I was delighted to come to a League One club and to Fleetwood because I know they play football.
“It was a long journey up but I got here eventually.
“My first session was Thursday and I enjoyed it.
“Mind you the weather’s a bit of a shock.
“I’m used to a bit of rain and stuff but the wind has been crazy.”
Having got stuck into his first sesson at Poolfoot Farm the attacking midfielder believes he had plenty to offer Fleetwood and the club has plenty to offer him.
He said: “I’ve played a bit in the first team at Reading, I got my chance against Derby last year.
“I came back and did pre-season with the first team as well.
“I’ve had a good taste of it.
“I’ve got a bit of pace, I try to use my skill as well, I try to learn from the first team players down at Reading and put what they tell me into my game. The manager says he wants high intensity and that’s what I’ve got.
“He’s said when i get the ball he wants a bit of magic.
“I just have to do that on the pitch.
“He’s given me confidence.
“It’s my first loan an it’s a good to have a manager like me.”
Town’s two new loan rangers are getting to know each other very quickly, having been given a room together at the club’s lodgings in Blackpool - where manager Steven Pressley and assistant Neil MacFarlane are also living.
And Fosu admits it’ll be a learning experience in more ways that one.
“David Henen is my room mate - I’ll get to know him,” he explained.
“The only thing is he speaks French so I’m going to have to learn that quickly!”
Fosu and Henen will add competition to Town’s attacking lines, an area where Pressley has been keen to add pace.
David Ball, Tyler Forbes Bobby Grant and Ash Hunter will also be battling for a start against The Posh having all been involved for Fleetwood in midweek.
