Former Fleetwood Town manager Micky Mellon has been placed in temporary charge of Barnsley charge following the sacking of David Flitcroft
His first match as caretaker will be away to Brighton and Hove Albion on Tuesday night.
Brighton are six matches unbeaten, while the Tykes languish at the bottom of the table.
It is almost 12 months since Mellon was sacked at Fleetwood in the wake of an FA Cup second round defeat at the hands of Aldershot.
Mellon recently turned down the chance to talk to Forest Green Rovers about the manager’s job with the Conference club.
