Fleetwood unveil a third new keeper
Fleetwood Town have brought in a third keeper from AFC Fylde to compete with new shot-stoppers Chris Neal and Alex Cairns.
Matty Urwin has made the short move across the Fylde coast National League North side AFC Fylde to Highbury.
Urwin was part of the Fylde side that just missed out on promotion to the National League as they lost 2-1 to North Ferriby United in the play-off final last month.
The 22-year-old former Blackburn Rovers trainee and Bradford City player says the chance to move to a League One club was an opportunity he could not turn down.
And the youngster says he is looking forward to working with Town’s goalkeeping coach and former PNE keeper David Lucas.
He said: “It was an opportunity I could not really pass up.
“I’m really excited about the next year.
“I’ve met Alex last season, I got on really well with him.
“I’ve yet to meet Chris but I’m sure I will get on with him and I’m looking forward to it.
“I get on really well with David Lucas and I’m looking forward to getting pre-season under my belt with him.
“I started off at Blackburn Rovers.
I was there from a really young age until I was about 20.
“I left there, I’ve been on-loan at a few non-league clubs and then went to Bradford for a season.
“I didn’t get much game time but I still really enjoyed the experience.
“Last season I went to Fylde, we ended up getting to the play-off final and did not quite make it but it was a good experience.
“I’m hoping to work hard in training and see were it takes me.
“I will do my best and hopefully that will take me where I want to go.”
