Fleetwood Town walk tall in aid of charity

Over 100 Wigan fans, including chairman David Sharpe and club legend Emmerson Boyce, will walk over 30 miles from their club’s training ground in Euxton to Fleetwood for the game.

Fleetwood chief executive Steve Curwood will also take part in the charity walk for Joseph’s Goal, raising awareness of and funds for the rare genetic disorder, NKH.

Joseph Kendrick, who was not expected to survive longer than a few days, turns nine next month and continues to live with a condition which caused seizures and affects his development.

The walkers will set off at 9am next Friday. Fylde coast football fans are invited to join them on Saturday morning as they complete their journey after an overnight stop in Blackpool.

Wigan chairman Sharpe said: “I’m looking foward to raising awareness for Joseph’s Goal, which is a fantastic cause for a special little boy.

“The walk in comparison to what Joseph has battled throughout his life is nothing, but it will be a very enjoyable couple of days and it will be great to spend plenty of hours with the supporters of Joseph’s Goal.

“I will now have to start taking the stairs rather than lifts as my training schedule for the walk.”
