The 19-year-old, who had featured for the Reds’ senior team in the FA Cup and Carabao Cup during the 2019/20 campaign, had moved to Highbury in August on a season-long loan.
However, the subsequent arrivals of Callum Connolly and Charlie Mulgrew, as well as the promise shown by James Hill, meant that Boyes failed to feature as often as might have been expected.

Boyes only played four times for Town in the first half of the season: the League One losses to AFC Wimbledon and Rochdale, the Carabao Cup defeat against Everton and last month’s EFL Trophy victory over Blackpool.
His involvement was also hindered by a foot injury sustained while on international duty with Wales’ Under-19s in October.
In addition to the two cup ties for the Reds’ senior side last season, Boyes twice played for their Under-21s in the EFL Trophy.

Town head coach Joey Barton had been excited by Boyes’ potential when the teenager joined the club.
“He’s a player our scouts have been watching for a while and we are delighted to get him,” he told the club’s website at the time.
“Morgan is a young player with plenty of potential, hopefully we can help him develop at Fleetwood and see him establish himself in our side.”
