Fleetwood Town have sent out a message

Wes Burns believes Town's midweek Scunthorpe success should serve as a warning to the rest of League One.

A blistering 20-minute first-half period saw Town storm to a 4-0 half-time lead at Glanford Park.

Burns netted his first two goals of the campaign and Evans also scored twice with Ash Hunter wrapping up the game with the fifth goal in the second half.

It was certainly a statement to the rest of the division with a Town line-up that just escaped relegation last year easing to their biggest League One win at a Scunthorpe team which made last season’s play-offs.

They now head to Charlton Athletic with Burns saying the Cod Army players mean business this season.

He said: “We said at half-time that we had a 15 or 20-minute spell where we blew them away.

“That is just a glimpse of what we are capable of.

“That is the type of talent we have in our dressing room.

“Second half we won that 1-0, to get a clean sheet and win 5-0 away from home is just superb.”
