Swindon Town swoop for Fleetwood Town midfielder Toumani Diagouraga

The 22-year-old, who joined Fleetwood from non-league side Rushall Olympic last year, made just one appearance for the Cod Army.

However that appearance did feature a goal in the 2-0 win against Chesterfield in the EFL Trophy.

Reid also spent time on loan at Wrexham, where he scored three times in 18 appearances.

A second loan spell at Solihull Moors followed later in the season, where he found the back of the net four times in 15 appearances.

“It goes without saying that I am delighted to sign,” Reid said. “Now it is all down to me and putting the hard work in.

“I can’t wait to get going for real now and begin this new chapter in my career."

Reid came through the youth ranks at Aston Villa and has also spent time at Walsall.

The forward is the second player to leave Fleetwood this week after midfielder Toumani Diagouraga joined Swindon Town on a free transfer.

Stevenage manager Dino Maamria added: “We knew about Alex for a while. We watched him out on loan at Wrexham last season and he will add pace to our forward-line which is something we need.

“He is still young, a pure athlete and there is loads of room for him to improve as a player.

“He is a good professional, a great kid, he wants to learn and he is a real Stevenage type of player.”
