Joey Barton brought a familiar face to his first training session as Fleetwood Town boss as his ex-Rangers team-mate Jason Holt settled into life at Poolfoot Farm.
Barton took his first ever training session as head coach as the players returned to Poolfoot Farm for pre-season training.
Barton officially took over on June 2 but this was his first taste of work with his new crop.
And for Holt, signed yesterday on a season-long loan from Rangers, it was a great experience.
The midfielder said: “Obviously I’m very happy to be here.
“It was my first day, and just getting to be here and meet all the staff and all the boys was just great.
“Everyone has been great. I’ve been in this situation before going into new teams and all the boys have been great. It was great to get the first training session done.”
And the central midfielder has told the Cod Army what they can expect.
Holt said: “I’m going to hopefully bring a bit of energy to the team, get about the park and help the team as much as I can.”
Town’s other summer signing to date, full-back Eddie Clarke, also trained with his new team-mates for the first time.
Clarke was signed before Barton officially took charge.
Another player from Tranmere, midfielder James Wallace, trained with Town as a triallist yesterday.
