Fleetwood owner Andy Pilley wants English and Scottish clubs to compete for British Cup
The Highbury chief envisages the top clubs from both sides of the border entering a ‘British Cup’, which he believes would be “huge and very profitable”.
Since the demise of the Home Internationals 36 years ago brought an end to annual England v Scotland fixtures, ideas to revive the rivalry between English and Scottish football have regularly been mooted.

The Town owner outlines his idea in the latest in his series of YouTube videos and invites feedback from football followers.
In the video, Pilley says that while faced with the Covid-19 crisis: “Football must take stock and plan, and while on pause it must strategise for the future.
“I believe as part of this strategy we should consider very seriously getting the English Leagues to engage with the Scottish Leagues about an Anglo-Scottish Cup.

“There really is no time like the present to explore revamping our competitions. I think it would be huge and very profitable.
“There has long been talk about whether clubs north of the border could compete with the English clubs and now is the time to see if we can make this a reality. Let’s see if we can.
“Let’s imagine Rangers v Man United, Celtic v Liverpool, Aberdeen v Fleetwood, some massive, massive games.
