Fleetwood head coach Uwe Rsoler's reaction from the 2-2 draw with Scunthorpe United

Rosler’s men were 2-0 to the good against former Fleetwood boss Graham Alexander’s new Scunthorpe side after goals from Eggert Jonsson and David Ball.

But Town switched off at a corner allowing Jordan Clarke to head the ball towards goal, his effort was parried away by Chris Neal but Hopper was on hand to bundle the rebound home in the 63rd minute.

Devante Cole missed a golden opportunity to put the game to bed as he nodded substitute Ash Hunter’s right wing cross straight at Luke Daniels.

And that was to prove costly as within seconds Scunthorpe had the ball up the other end and in the back of the net as Kevin Van Veen’s curling effort kissed the post before sailing into the back of the net.

Ricardo Kip nearly made it 3-2 but he nodded another fine Hunter cross from the right straight down Daniels throat unmarked.

Scunthorpe bossed the last 15 minutes of the game and it took a fine triple save from Neal who thwarted Williams, Clarke and Hopper in quick-fire succession in the closing embers of the game to ensure Town bagged a point.

And Rosler says it was a tough test for Town after their gruelling 120 extra time penalty defeat to Championship side Leeds in midweek.

He said: “I think there were a lot of ups and downs.

“I felt it was a very tough game for both teams but especially for us.

“We had 24 hours less recovery time.

“We tried to mix it up a little bit to put more energy on the pitch.

“But especially our three midfield players they found it very tough today.

“They have a very demanding role in our pressing game and today it was nearly impossible for them to do all of the pressing and the chasing and be very influential and creative on the ball.

“It was a tough game for the whole team, we were 2-0 up, we earned that, we looked very good on set-pieces, we did not complicate things in the first half.

“Being 2-0 up a little bit disappointing that we did not do they jobs 100% right, especially when you are conceding on a corner and you switch off and allow Scunthorpe back in the game.

“Van Veen is always getting alive in the last 15 to 20 minutes when the game gets stretched, when there is space and he goes on his right foot and shoots from everywhere but we all know about that.

“Chris Neal had a good game but we could have won it.

“Before they scored the second we had a free header in the box and it could have been 3-1 and the game would have been over.

“I also felt that at 2-2 we also had a very good chance (a free header) from Kip that could have made it 3-2.

“I think they had the momentum in the last 15 minutes.

“We were on our knees, physically we couldn’t come out any more and it was a very tough game after last Wednesday.”
