Fleetwood confirm bid for striker Cole

Rosler revealed that was why the 22-year-old did not feature in last night’s squad for the 3-0 win over Leicester U21’s in their opening Checkatrade Trophy clash at Highbury.

Town signed Cole from Bradford City in January last year and the forward has a year left on his contract, which the club has an option to extend until the summer of 2019.

Rosler said: “We had one official bid from a Championship side and we have had interest from a foreign club as well.

“He was supposed to be in the match-day squad but we received a bid for him and I felt it was better (to leave him out) because sometimes it is not easy to concentrate on the game. We will see if that will develop into something or not.”

And Rosler says that if Cole or anybody else leaves before tomorrow’s night’s transfer deadline, Town will dip their toe back in the water.

But as he has stressed over the last few weeks, if all of his players remain at the club Town will not need to do any more shopping. Rosler said: “As long as nobody goes out we are done. When somebody will go out, then I want to bring in a natural replacements.

“We are a club with healthy finances. We operate from a position of strength and I think it must be right and for the player before we say ‘yes’.

“I am not involved. I have said that many times.

“I am the head coach. I am picking the team and training the team but I am not involved in any financial dealings with other clubs.”

His side steamrolled Leicester without Cole’s help thanks to first Town goals from Godswill Ekpolo and Baily Cargill (above) and Wes Burns’ first competitive strike in over a year.

Rosler was pleased with how his men reacted to Saturday’s 3-1 defeat at Bristol Rovers. He said: “I think we responded really well. We played in a good tempo and passed the ball well. I think our mentality was first class.

“The quality was much better on the ball. We have been good without the ball and I think the key was to play in a proper match tempo. I think that was the key to winning the game comfortably.

“In the first 10-15 minutes the passing was slick but a little bit too deep for me. After that I wanted us in the final third a little bit more.
