Blackpool FC Community Trust were honoured to have England’s Junior Amputees as special guests on Saturday afternoon for the Seasiders’ drawn match against Southend United.

Jamie Oakey (13), Liam Brittles (16), Rhyce Ramsden (17), Ben O’Brien (15) and Thomas Attkinson (13) all met Blackpool FC coaching staff and players prior to the 1-1 draw against Southend.

Elaine Oakey (Jamie’s mum) said: “Thank you Blackpool FC Community Trust for everything today. The lads were so happy. It was a dream day doing things they never normally would.”

Rhyce said: “It was a fantastic day to be a part of. It was great to meet the players and manager and chat about how they prepare and train for match days.

They took a real interest in me and my team-mates, which made us feel at home.”

BFCCT inclusion officer Owen Coyle said: “The day from start to finish was excellent.

The junior amputees met up with Gary Bowyer and the squad, who were phenomenal with the youngsters. They took a keen interest and made them feel a part of the team.”
