The player has been out of the picture at The Shay this season, and AFC manager Dave Challinor has had his eyes on the player for some time, being very keen to recruit the former England C international.

As well as Halifax, Wilson has had spells at Guiseley, Northwich Victoria and Vauxhall Motors.

Challinor said: “I have been looking to sign Josh for a long time.

“He can score goals and he will give us more presence.

“We had been hoping to finalise things last week, but it didn’t happen then,..

“Halifax have been busy because of the England C match that was played there this week, but we are hoping that all the paperwork can be sorted out and that he will be available for the weekend.”

Fylde are at home to Hednesford in the FA Trophy on Saturday week.
