He has made the move so that he gets important game-time, with Dave Challinor, manager of the league leaders AFC Fylde, insisting that the player remains an important part of his long-term plans at Kellamergh Park.

Potts joined the Coasters from Guiseley in the close season.

Challinor said: “Michael started off well for us, but then had a bit of dip in form.

“We have not had many development squad matches lately, so he hasn’t been able to play very much.

“Keith Briggs (the Stalybridge manager) showed an interest in Michael, and we sat down together to discuss it and decided that it was that he went to them in loan.

“During that time, he will probably play six or seven matches and Michael will get the games that he needs.

“It is beneficial all the way round.”
