The Coasters still lead the National League North table by 10 points after Kidderminster lost 2-0 at Brackley Town on Tuesday night.

With just 11 games to go, Challinor believes another half dozen victories could put Fylde on the brink of automatic promotion.

The Coasters travel to Harrogate Town this weekend and Challinor said: “We can’t affect what others do but I’d be lying if I said I didn’t hope for other teams to do us favours.

“I come into the dressing room after a game presuming every other rival team has won, and if any haven’t it’s simply a bonus.

“Destiny is still in our own hands because we are in the position of power, but I’ll never settle with how far we are ahead at the top. We cannot afford to become complacent.

“We have 11 games to go and the ultimate target remains the same as it has ever been. We want to try to get to six more wins as quickly as possible and see where we are at.

“It might take more than six, it might take less, but it will certainly take us a lot closer to where we want to be.

“That said, it’s a big ask considering some of the games we have coming up – Kidderminster, Stockport, Darlington, Halifax are all up there in the mix . Not one of them will give us an easy game nor will any other side we face.

“We are a scalp for most clubs and we must be strong to maintain our position.

“You have to be right at it all the time and Harrogate will be no different. If we are at our best we have a good chance against anyone in this league.”

Harrogate have won three of their last four league games and sit five points outside the play-off places ahead of Fylde’s trip to the CNG Stadium.

The Coasters had a hard-fought 2-1 victory over the Yorkshire club at Mill Farm.
