Bowyer: We must impose our style of play

Pool boss Gary Bowyer insists his side can't afford to sit off Luton if they have any hope of extending their impressive home record.

The Seasiders have only been beaten once at home this season – a defeat inflicted by league leaders Plymouth Argyle – but come up against an impressive Luton side who sit above them in the League Two table.

Bowyer is well aware of how difficult a task it will be to pick up all three points, but said his players have to concentrate on their own game.

“They’re a footballing team and they’re in the play-offs and have some good players,” he said.

“But as ever, it depends on what we do. If we sit off them and allow them to play and don’t get near them, they will look good but that’s the same with any team in this league.

“We’ve got to take care of ourselves and impose our style of play on them.

“We’ve only lost one in our last 11 and we’ve only lost one at home all season, so we’re going into the game full of confidence.”

Blackpool are full of goals on home turf, having scored 12 in their last three league outings – a record Bowyer is keen to build on.

“It’s always good when you can score in front of your own fans,” Bowyer added. “We feel like we’ve got goals in the squad, not just in the first team as proven last weekend.

“We know that if we’re up there and at it on the front foot, then we’ll perform well.”

Bowyer admits he will have a tough time selecting his first eleven for the game, with the likes of Mark Cullen looking to start against his former side.

He said: “I’m sure Mark would love to start but there’s a few others as well, that’s the beauty of having a squad.”
