Bowyer wants to build on momentum

Blackpool haven’t tasted defeat since the 2-1 reversal at Lancashire neighbours Accrington Stanley last month, and have since enjoyed a fruitful spell in all competitions.

That run has included a 2-0 win against Kidderminster Harriers in the FA Cup last weekend which was followed up by a penalty shootout victory against an Everton Under-21 side in the Checkatrade Trophy during the week.

Bowyer believes it is imperative his players take that form into tomorrow’s league game against Notts County.

He said: “We’re in a run of form of four games unbeaten but we’re not going to get carried away. We know there’s a lot of work to be done.

“We’ve got a good month coming up now where we’ve got the game coming up against Notts County and we play Saturday, Tuesday, Saturday and that can change everything.

“You look at the teams in the league and anybody can beat anybody. All teams will have a dip at some point and will lose games and there will be teams who go on unbelievable runs. It’s just a case of maintaining that for as long as you can and that’s what we’re trying to do at the moment.

“But we’re going into the game with some form and momentum but we’ve really got to go and reproduce that.”

Tuesday night’s win at Goodison Park came via a much-changed line up for the Seasiders, and Bowyer was impressed with how those fringe players coming into the side performed.

“The fact we could change a few players and yet continue the momentum in terms of the way we play has been important,” he said.

“Looking at our league form, we’ve got four points from the last six and that’s from a home game and an away game.

“If we continue that then it will help you massively in this league.”

Notts County also come into the game in good form, with the Magpies sitting in sixth place in the League Two table.

They also have one of the league’s best records on the road, having only lost two away games in the league all season.

“It’s going to be a tough game against a team that’s up there,” Bowyer added. “They’ve shown their away form is good but at the same time our home form has been very good as well.

“They’ve got attacking options and they’re a threat up top, so we’re going to have to be right that’s for sure.”

Blackpool will face a trip to Doncaster Rovers in the second round of the Checkatrade Trophy, with the tie taking place in the week commencing December 5.
