Grecians manager Paul Tisdale has been in charge at St James Park since 2006, making him the second longest serving manager in England after Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger.

Bowyer believes Tisdale has done an “incredible” job at Exeter, having led the club back to the Football League in 2008 before securing back-to-back promotions the following year.

Exeter, now back in League Two following relegation in 2012, are flying high in sixth place having lost just one of their last 15 games.

“We’re going to a club on Saturday that should be an example to every football club up and down this country,” Bowyer said.

“They’ve got a model and a structure in place, they improve their facilities so they’re able to generate players for their own team and if they’re good enough they get sold, but if they’re not they stay in the team.

“They provide the opportunity to play for their hometown club and try and get promoted.

“They give the manager time and how long has he been there for now, 10 years? It’s incredible.

“The people that make those decisions, and it’s happened this week not far down the road (at Blackburn Rovers), they’re not accountable.

“They have to become accountable because the people in charge have to create a culture and that’s what we’re talking about with Paul Tisdale at Exeter.

“I’m looking forward to seeing Paul and maybe I can pick up some hints and tips to last as long as he has.”
