Blackpool 'staying firm' on Scott Quigley despite interest

Blackpool forward Scott Quigley has revealed there has been a lot of interest in his services - but the Seasiders appear keen to keep him at the club.

After making the move to Bloomfield Road from Welsh outfit The New Saints (TNS), the striker only went on to make five starts for the Seasiders last season with all of them coming in the EFL Trophy.

He came off the bench in the league nine times but he did go on to enjoy a fruitful loan spell with National League side Wrexham.

Having arrived at the Racecourse Ground in January, the 25-year-old went on to bag eight goals in 17 league matches, seven of them coming in his first eight matches.

New Wrexham boss Sam Ricketts has admitted he would be interested in bringing Quigley back to the club, but it appears they’re not the only club who are monitoring the forward.

“If I am being honest there have been a few offers for me,” Quigley told Welsh newspaper The Leader.

“About six clubs from League One and League Two, and that is not counting the National League.

“Blackpool are staying firm, I don’t think they are budging. I will be going back for pre-season and we will go from there.

“I could not tell you what is going to happen. I am a Blackpool player and I have to respect everything they say, but I hope they respect me if the gaffer does not fancy me.”

Although Quigley still has a year left on his contract at Blackpool, Quigley insists he has no interest in being a bit-part player with the Seasiders.

Quigley, who played under Wrexham coach Carl Darlington when the duo were at TNS, says he would have no qualms about heading back to north Wales.

“Everyone knows there has been interest and the connection with Carl is big,” Quigley added. “That would be a big influence.

“Carl has been good with me since coming through at TNS and he has always kept an eye on my career.”

Wrexham aren’t the only National League side to have shown an interest in Quigley, but the 25-year-old has made it clear he wouldn’t want to line up against them next season.

“I don’t really want to play against Wrexham because I have got too many good memories there,” he said.

“I respect the club so much for what they did for me, they did so much in that short period.

“The fans were good to me and I want to avoid playing against Wrexham

“I know it would only be two games, three if you are drawn in the cup, but I would prefer not to unless it was an offer I could not refuse.

“I don’t really want to go out on loan, I want it to be permanent and start afresh.

“The only thing that matters to me is I want to be someone’s number nine and play first team football so never rule anything out.

“I just want to play football over the money, it is an easy decision for me. As long as you are doing well the money comes with it.”
