'You can't really argue with the result': Harrogate Town boss Simon Weaver on his side's FA Cup defeat to Blackpool

The Seasiders were frustrated in a scrappy first-half, with the game remaining goalless until the 50th minute of the encounter.

Luke Garbutt, returning from injury to face his hometown club, saw his corner deflect home before Grant Ward doubled Pool’s lead just before the hour mark.

Critchley’s side made life more comfortable for themselves late on with Dan Kemp and Jordan Gabriel also getting in on the act, while Harrogate finished the game with 10 men following Kevin Lokko’s late red.

"I thought there was very little in it in the first-half. We came in at 0-0 and we just told them to keep it solid," Weaver said.

"They weren't causing us too many problems but we talked about a few moments where we could have tightened it up a little bit.

"Overall we were quite composed with our defending in that first-half which ends up making the result that bit more disappointing because if you come off 2-0 it's a case of patting them on the back against a higher placed club, but 4-0 is disappointing - especially in the manner we conceded the goals.

"It was an awful first goal to concede from the corner and the second one was from a corner as well.

"In open play I couldn't fault them up until that point but when they get their two-goal advantage, they showed why they're a good League One team and they picked us off on a couple of occasions.

"They broke quickly when we had possession of the ball in their final third and they showed a bit more than we did on the day.

"But overall you can't really argue with the result and we move on quickly.

"We've got to realise the FA Cup is a bonus. We all wanted to do well, so we're disappointed with the goals we conceded, but we'll move on quickly and not dwell on it."
