Despite the well-documented off-the-field problems, it’s been another positive year for the Seasiders on the pitch under the management of Gary Bowyer.

Tipped as one of the favourites to go down after clinching promotion from League Two last year, the Seasiders have defied the odds - not once sitting in the bottom four of the table - to now sit on the cusp of a top-half finish.

But what players have been the most impressive this campaign?

Blackpool FC writer Matt Scrafton has drawn up a shortlist of six players for you to vote from, which is as follows:

Sean Longstaff

The midfielder has enjoyed a prosperous spell at Blackpool on a season-long loan from Premier League side Newcastle United. The 20-year-old has netted nine times in 42 appearances, four of which came in his first four league starts for the Seasiders. Not only does Longstaff score goals, the majority of them have been eye-catching long-range efforts.

Joe Lumley

The goalkeeper might only have been with the Seasiders for half of the season but that is just testament to the impact he has had in the short time he has been here. The QPR man has kept nine clean sheets in the 18 games he has played since joining Blackpool on loan during the January transfer window. His shot stopping and the manner in which he dominates his penalty area have earnt him plenty of plaudits.

Clark Robertson

The 24-year-old has built on last season’s form to deliver another season’s worth of solid displays. A consistent performer and a rock at the heart of the Blackpool defence, Robertson is rarely below a 7/10. The Scot has also found the back of the net three times this season, two short of his pre-season target of five. Out of contract at the end of the season, the defender will certainly be one Bowyer will want to keep.

Curtis Tilt

The centre back has enjoyed a superb first season as a Football League player having joined from Wrexham during the summer. A late developer, Tilt had no problem acclimatising to the step-up in quality, putting in a string of Man of the Match displays. The 26-year-old has been a virtual ever-present for Pool, only missing a league game through suspension.

Ollie Turton

Like Robertson, Turton is another steady performer who has rarely let Blackpool down this season. The 25-year-old arrived to little fanfare when he arrived on a free transfer from Crewe Alexandra during the summer, but the right-back has been one of the Seasiders’ most consistent performers all season, making over 40 appearances predominately at right back.

Kyle Vassell

The striker looks set to become Blackpool’s top goalscorer for the second season running, having found the back of the net 11 times this season. The 25-year-old’s campaign has been interrupted by injury but that’s not stopped him from reaching double figures once again. But Vassell doesn’t just bring goals, he is also vital to the way Blackpool like to play with the way he holds the ball up and brings others into play. He’s another who is out of contract at the end of the season.
