More than 3,000 have signed a Blackpool Supporters’ Trust petition calling for Karl Oyston to stand down as chairman of Blackpool FC.
The trust responded to calls from its members for a vote of no confidence in Oyston, who called a fan a “retard” during a text row which was published following last Saturday’s hammering by Bournemouth.
The online petition was launched on Christmas Eve and a spokesperson for BST said: “BST would ask our members, Blackpool fans and all in the football community to sign the petition that requests Karl Oyston steps down from any position of influence in Blackpool FC immediately. This petition will be submitted to the FA and Football League as well as club owner Owen Oyston.
“We call upon Owen Oyston to remove Karl Oyston from any position of influence with immediate effect and re-establish a working relationship with Valeri Belokon (the club’s Latvian president, who also suggested the chairman should step down).
“It’s time the club started treating the fans and community of Blackpool with the respect they deserve.”
A group of Pool fans protested during yesterday’s defeat at Sheffield Wednesday, with more demonstrations expected at tomorrow’s home game against Rotherham.
