BLACKPOOL have been rocked by their third major injury blow in as many weeks.
Michael Appleton’s bad luck continues with the news Ian Evatt could be out for a month, the 31-year-old has been struggling with a knee injury.
It was initially thought the defender would be fit for Saturday’s game after a few days’ rest. But a scan has revealed internal bruising on a bone in his knee, which could prove serious.
Appleton said: “He hasn’t trained all week. We thought he’d be OK to join in on Thursday but he wasn’t.
“He has bone bruising, which can take a good while to settle down. We aren’t sure how long he’s going to be out. It could settle down over a couple of weeks with complete rest. If not, he could be much longer.”
Also without Matt Phillips and Gary Taylor-Fletcher, the new boss is cursing his luck to lose three regular starters so early into his reign.
He added: “It’s easy to come up with excuses but I’ve lost three key players now. But that will happen to every manager and I have to trust the players who come in.
“If I’d have known Evo’s injury would be so bad, I’d probably have tried to get cover in before Thursday (the loan deadline), but we didn’t.
“Obviously January can’t come soon enough now. Between now and then we need to work hard to identify the right people to bring in.”
