AFTER four goals in his opening four games, it is no surprise Kevin Phillips was voted the fans’ player of the month for August.
The Seasiders frontman was presented with his prize, sponsored by Wonga, prior to the Cardiff game.
And it obviously inspired him, the 38-year-old going on to produce a superb strike to help Pool claim a share of the spoils.
That added to the braces Phillips got in the games against Peterborough and Brighton.
His five goals make him the third-highest scorer in the Championship, one behind Southampton’s Rickie Lambert and Ross McCormack at Leeds.
Manager Ian Holloway said: “I knew I had signed a cracking player and I can’t believe anyone might have ever thought differently.
“It doesn’t matter how old someone is, it is all about the quality of their play and there aren’t many who have more quality than Kev.
“He is the best finisher I have ever worked with and I’ve no doubt he’ll keep producing the goods for the rest of the season.”
Pictured presenting Phillips with his prize is Blackpool fan Vicky Sandiford, who got the honour of handing over the trophy by voting at Wonga’s Blackpool Facebook page.
