The 24-year-old summer signing missed a month of action in the autumn but still racked up 27 Seasiders appearances by New Year’s Day, though injury then restricted him to one further game off the bench before the shutdown.

The former Crystal Palace attacker, who spent last season with Dutch club NAC Breda, said: “I’ve enjoyed my first season here. Everyone has made it easy to settle in.

“Individually I’m disappointed I’ve missed so many games and from a team perspective we’d obviously like to be higher in the table. I’m sure the fans expect that from us as well.

“It’s an ambitious club and the owner’s ambition is what convinced me to sign.

“He wanted to get promotion, which is what I wanted as well.

“Overall I just had a good feeling about the club. I knew I could come here and show my talent.”

The Londoner has also scored six goals, the last of them in the 3-1 home victory over neighbours Fleetwood Town in early December.

And that match is the high point of Kaikai’s Blackpool career to date.

“The Fleetwood game has been my favourite moment so far,” he added. “We won, I scored and the fans made it really special.

“I enjoy the atmosphere a lot at Bloomfield Road. The fans are always with us and they help us get through games.”

Having already proved himself a versatile player across the front-line, Kaikai has no doubts about his favourite role.

“Playing behind the striker is my preferred position,” he said.

“But aside from that, I like playing wide left as part of a front three.”

Kaikai is contracted to the Seasiders for 2020/21, with the option of a third year.
