Blackpool have moved to bolster their threadbare squad with the offer of a contract to striker Ishmael Miller.
The 27-year-old is currently training with the club after turning down the chance to sign for former team mate Paul Dickov at Doncaster Rovers.
Miller is available on a free transfer after leaving Nottingham Forest last season, and will be remembered by fans after he tore Blackpool apart during his loan spell at Yeovil back in December.
It’s understood Miller is keen on a move to the Seasiders and will continue talks today despite uncertainly which currently hangs over the club.
There’s still no resolution in the stand-off between boss Karl Oyston and Jose Riga and major doubts remain over the manager’s long-term future.
Riga imposed a media blackout at the club over the weekend and could yet leave the club should a breakthrough not be found.
While Miller isn’t one of the names which initially caused the dispute, Riga is keen on bringing the former Manchester City youngster to the club.
The striker fired 10 goals in 17 games for Yeovil at the end of last season and when fit is one of the Championship’s most dangerous front-men.
If a deal can be done he’d become Pool’s ninth player also they’ve also opened up contract talks with keeper Ben Alnwick.
A host of players remain on trial at Bloomfield Road with Riga yet to make decisions on the players who featured in Saturday’s 4-0 win against Penrith.
Pool have just one friendly arranged between now and the start of the season on August 9, but are hoping to arrange a tie for this weekend in the absence of their pre-season tour of Spain.
Meanwhile, tickets are now on sale for Blackpool’s home pre-season friendly with Burnley next month.
The Seasiders host Sean Dyche’s men on Saturday 2 August at Bloomfield Road, with a 3pm kick-off, with tickets priced at £15 for adults, £10 for seniors and £5 for under 15s.
